Why I pledged:        The purpose of the fraternity and its concerns with
                      helping people help themselves in the community.
My going over night:  Second, the fraternity’s four cardinal principals,
Funniest Moment:      Manhood, Scholarship, Perseverance and Uplift. The
Chapter Achievement:
                      mentorship, leadership that that the brother like our
Biggest Challenge:    advisors Brother George Garrison and James Deas,
                      Joseph Rouse, Clayton Graham, Rick Treadwell and
                      William J. Malone before us exemplified,
                      How happy I was that the pledge period was over, an
                      anxious to start the real work of Omega Psi Phi.
                      The night our entire line stood outside in the rain at
                      Kean College all night.
                      Educating many at Seton Hall University and the
                      surrounding areas about Omega Psi Phi, its principals
                      and purpose. Getting involved in campus affairs, to
                      getting black oriented entertainment on campus,

                      proceeds from our concerts , and annual party at the
                      Sterington, House in Montclair , NJ created more
                      scholarships workinging in conjunction with EOP
                      program. Gave positive exposure to black students at
                      Seton Hall University as well as a glimpse into
                      predominately black fraternity life.. The Chapter also
                      raised scholarship monies promoting concerts, we had
                      Melba Moore, Phyllis Hyman, Norman Connors and
                      Michael Henderson in concert in Seton Hall's
                      gymnasium.
                      Ignorance of Black fraternity's and Sororities. The
                      Seton Hall University student body and administration

                      just had no idea about predominantly black fraternities
                      and sororities period. I remember the surprised looks
                      on the faces of the Seton Hall administration, Paula
                      Rivard, then Assistant Dean of Students and Barbara
                      Wydnar the then Director of the Educational
                      Opportunity Program, at our charter presentation on
                      January 18, 1976 on how first class and classy the
                      ceremony was.
