My going over night:
Funniest Moment: black fraternity on campus (my only fraternity
experience). Most important, the other brothers I met
Chapter Achievement: seemed to be men of like mind.
Biggest Challenge: A sense of peace and confidence that my line and me
Impact on Campus: were going to cross and cross together, no matter the
journey.
Being the actor, when my line brother Bibby jumped in
to help a brother during a particularly rowdy pledge
session only to jump back in line to find me laughing at
his heroics. We laughed together all night long but I
don't remember a life line thrown to me after that
night. Funny, but it showed me that my line brother
really had my back.
There were many but being recognized as the first
black fraternity on campus was the achievement.
When you look at it, the challenge is no different than
what our brothers face today; graduating. Through all
the good times we found a way to graduate.
The chapter brought many of the black students
together with simple activities they could identify with.
Often times it's the very common interactions that
make all the difference. For the chapter bros it could
be as simple as a cafeteria bake sale or as big as a
Lonnie Listen Smith concert in the main gym.
