Why I pledged: Brother James Brewer
My going over night:
Funniest Moment: Going over date: 4/23/1980
My Line Name: Brew
Chapter Achievement: Line Name: Tragic Three
Biggest Challenge: Dean: Doug Hollis
Impact on Campus: School: Upsala College
Example of Omega Men in my community during my
formative years.
We were in the park adjacent to the campus during the
evening. It all seemed surreal when the Bruhs
congratulated us for "persevering through the pledge
period.
Bruhs, looking to take us to the Penn Relays as
Lamps…I was willing to face the Big Brothers Thunder
and Lightening and commenting to my line brother that
they were going to have to do more than kick my door
down while I hid in a place that I didn't even think I
could fit into!…what a night…we did ultimately pay the
price...
Recruiting brothers of like mind who were willing to
blaze the trail established by our founders.
Challenge: Crossing the dedicated 1980 line in the face
of academic uncertainties. Solution: Split the line;
mentor Lamps with the goal of crossing the balance of
the Spring line during "Summer 1980"
Continued to establish recognition and equity for
students from the African diaspora.
