1990’s Reflections

KH 1990

On November 24, 1996 Kappa Eta Chapter was reactivated. Under the guidance
of Eta Pi Chapter and it’s membership, Curtis Caldwell (KH Founder), Joe Rouse
(KH Founder) and a host of KH alumni, the Chapter was now back. The seven
young men “The Seven Lords of Resurrection”, Alexis Carthens, Jonathan Griffin,
Courtney Corley, James Maduro, Damon Small, Tariq Muhammad and Kip
Beasley. Our coming out show was held on the night of November 24, 1996 in
front of Boland Hall.
University Officials and Students welcomed Kappa Eta back with open arms. We
took the campus and New Jersey by Storm as our events (parties, community
projects, social activities, etc.) quickly became the place to be for
undergraduates thru out the state! At our first meeting Chapter officers were
elected, James Maduro was elected the first Basileus, Jonathan Griffin, Vice
Basileus, Kip Beasley, Keeper of Records & Seals, Tariq Muhammad, Keeper of
Finance and Alexis Carthens, Keeper of Peace.
SHU became a hub for Omega in the 90’s, Ashley Turnbull, Curtis Caldwell, Nate
Bryant, Dave Jones, J.C. Thomas, Jimmy McCoy, Kenny Powell, Eric Barbour
were all regulars on campus, providing advice to the young soldiers that was
invaluable. Kappa Eta was up and running. In the Spring of 1997 led by Dean
of Pledges Tariq Muhammad Kappa Eta welcomed Arafan Dumbuya, Clyde Penn
and Hersheal Jones. In the Spring of 2000 led by Dean of Pledges Jonathan
Griffin “2 Sunz of The Savage” were born. JV Tuazon and Omar Thomas. The
history of Kappa Eta continues……
